1. Contributes to academic achievement:
Research has shown that soundfield amplification improves speech perception,
reading/spelling ability, behaviour, attention, psychosocial function,
on-task behaviours and psychoeducational achievement in children.
2. Provides benefit to all children in the classroom:
The teacher’s voice is uniformly transmitted to all children in
the classroom who benefit from the improved signal to noise ratio.
3. One of the most inexpensive means of improving classroom
acoustics:
Retro fitting a classroom can often be prohibitively expensive and as
a result is not done. Soundfield amplification can provide a partial
solution.
4. Does not stigmatise certain children:
Because the soundfield amplifies the whole room, individuals are not
singled out as different.
5. Teachers willingly accept soundfield systems:
One study by Crandell et al., found that 95% of all teachers accept
soundfield systems once they have had an opportunity to use the equipment
even if on a limited basis.
6. Students accept soundfield systems:
An American study showed that over 93% of students who experienced soundfield
systems responded positively to such systems.
7. Parents accept soundfield systems:
Another study reported that over 97% of parents willingly accepted the
concept of soundfield technology even though they had not seen it in
use. Their acceptance was a direct result of positive comments by their
children and their teachers.
